Perhaps you’ve noticed when you go to leave a comment on someone’s blog that Google allows you to choose an identity when posting. Has Google (who own Blogger) become so big that we can now just choose an identity? In the
Wouldn’t it be fun if we only had to decide who we wanted to be each day the same way we pick out our clothes or shoes? Why even by the day? You could be one person in the morning and another by night (hmmm some already seem to do this but we won’t go there). No more paper work or government red tape, just decide whom you want to be and be him or her!
In some European countries (Germany and Holland I think) they are considering (perhaps they have already done this?) making gender something one can choose at a specific age. In fact, if you are to ‘accuse’ a child of being a boy or a girl you will swiftly be told that they are not old enough to have made that decision.
Whilst this may save some parents a lot of money on paint for their baby’s nursery, I can’t see that it is a benefit to anyone. I can’t see that it is healthy in any way, really. What do you do if your baby has a gender specific health issue? Do you decide to wait until they are 11 years of age to decide if they want to be that gender and only then if they choose the right gender have it looked at?
No, in reality we have an identity which we are fairly well stuck with unless you are willing to go through the proper channels and forms and government methods to change them. As for the gender choosing, that’s just a ridiculous thing, really. We can pretend we are allowing people to choose their gender, but the truth is, we are either a boy or a girl based upon body parts, not choice.
And yet, there is one way we can choose our identity and it IS as easy as simply making a choice. We don’t need to know the CEO of Google to do it either! Nope, we just need to know Jesus! Ha ha did you see that coming? Probably, but still. We can make a choice in a split second and in that decision we become a new creation. We have an entirely new identity. What is more, we have a completely new family including inheritance!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5.17
